No surprises - ExpressionEngine 2.0 has been delayed!

EllisLab have annouced that EE 2.0 won't be released for a while. Obviously I'm a bit disappointed, but not surprised in the least. I had a feeling that they were just trying to drum up interest with premature announcements and presentations at SXSW. They have come nowhere near reaching their anticipated launch this summer. I wish they had been a bit more up front with thier plans as I can imagine that many people will have put off upgrading or moving sites to EE while waiting for the new version to come around. I wonder how this delay announcement will go down with the developer community which is usually so loyal?

Waiting for ExpressionEngine 2.0

It's been quite a while now since EllisLab announced they were going to release a whole new version of ExpressionEngine but there is still no official launch date. An announcement on the ExpressionEngine 2.0 preview site stated that it would be released "in the summer of 2008". Well according to the MET Office it's autumn now and we are still waiting...

In the meantime you can find out a bit more about what's in store from EE 2.0 on the seak preview site and check out some screenshots over on Derek Allard's blog.

I've also totally redeveloped the backend of the site with ExpressionEngine replacing my own custom built PHP Content Management System that I developed way back in 2002!
